FB Group-Delhi Mums and Dads

For the longest time parenting has predominantly been considered the domain of women. When the babies are young, it is the mother who they need the most and from there often begins a pattern where fathers largely stay on the periphery of parenting activities. While this mindset is changing in several households and there are always exceptions to the rule, not many social media platforms encourage the involvement of dads.

The Facebook group Delhi Mums & Dads is one such platform which is not only open to both parents but also actively encourages dads to upload pictures and posts of anything related to parenting. Started by two Delhi based moms- Ankita and Himani (who also run The South Delhi Playdates Group- https://www.momspresso.com/parenting/the-referee-mom/article/the-south-delhi-playdates-group), and a dad, Akash, the group is for parents residing in Delhi/NCR with kids between 0-14 years of age as well as for those who are expecting a baby.

The group emphasizes the involvement of dads in a variety of issues related to parenting, while also providing a platform for them to share their experiences as fathers . Designed on the lines to make parents feel as a unit in bringing up their children, the group is a safe haven for us parents who are often judged for our choices.

In a particularly creative twist, there are various hashtags under which parents can publish posts. Some of these are #mondaybazaar for brand promotions, #tuesdaytales for articles or blogs written by parents, #upcyclewednesdays for stuff which kids have outgrown and which can be upcycled for use by other kids, #raisingreaders and #parentingresources for book recommendations and #yummytummy for tried and tested interesting and healthy recipes, to name a few.  They are also planning to soon have a panel of experts on board for Q & A on various interesting parenting topics.
The group was created on 5th March 2020 and is currently 1500+ members strong. Its aim is to reach out to many more parents, particularly dads to make the whole process of parenting inclusive and supportive for them. A wonderful initiative which is being loved by both mums and dads alike, across the city.

p.s. to join the group please search for it on Facebook and answer a few easy questions for the admins to vet you and approve your request!
